Center for
Community Development
Snowy Mountain Development is committed to improving the quality of life in our region through diverse community development activities. Whether it's securing grants for local parks or assisting communities with strategic planning, our goal is to build stronger, more vibrant communities. Our staff are skilled in establishing and coordinating Public-Private partnerships, coalitions, and cooperatives, as well as engaging and mobilizing community groups and task forces to achieve shared goals. Community development activities include providing technical assistance to local governments and non-profit organizations to build stronger, more resilient rural communities.
Brownfields Program
A Brownfields project involves the cleanup and redevelopment of contaminated properties to revitalize them for new uses. SMDC provides loans and grant opportunities for qualifying Brownfields projects. Our coalition partners, MBAC in Helena and the City of Lewistown extend our Brownfields region across 11 counties.

Tax Increment Financing Districts
Snowy Mountain Development administers the Downtown Urban Renewal District (TIF) and Airport based Targeted Economic Development District (TED). This public financing tool is used as a subsidy for redevelopment, infrastructure and other community improvement projects.
